Fall into Lean Coffee with the Portland Metro IIBA Chapter! Fall is here and we'd like to talk about what you want to talk about! Bring any topics you would like to share or learn more about. We will use Miro for our board. This event requires everyone to participate.
What is Lean Coffee?
Lean Coffee is a structured but informal way to have group discussions without a set agenda. At the start, everyone suggests topics they’d like to talk about. The group then votes on which ideas are most interesting or important, and those become the focus of the conversation.
We’ll start with the top-voted topic, discuss it for a short, time-boxed period, and then decide together whether to keep going or move on. This keeps the discussion focused and ensures everyone’s time is spent on what matters most.
Lean Coffee is a great way to share ideas, ask questions, and learn from others in a collaborative and engaging format. All you need to bring is your curiosity and willingness to join the conversation!

This virtual workshop is Sponsored by Bluegrass IIBA Chapter and Delivered by Astrevo.
Monday, September 22 and Tuesday, September 23, 2025 | 3PM - 5PM PDT
Design Thinking has emerged as a major trend for how innovative organizations and teams are approaching problem-solving. This hands-on, interactive workshop explores the intersection between Design Thinking and project teams and will provide participants with a high-level overview of Design Thinking methods and tools. Participants will work in small teams and will learn about useful tools to use in a more agile, discovery-driven world. Case studies are used to show concretely how to integrate design methods into projects with lessons learned and unique outcomes. The workshop includes a warm-up rapid-fire sketching exercise and several individual and group hands-on exercises to expose participants to various design methods for user research, idea generation, visualization and prototyping. At the conclusion of the workshop, participants should be able to describe the benefits of incorporating design methodologies on projects for increased customer alignment and business impact and be able to illustrate multiple design-thinking tools that could benefit current or future projects. This course qualifies for 4 PDHs/CDUs for all IIBA® certifications. This course will contribute 4 PMI® PDUs towards your chosen certification.
